"Cro Magnon 25,000 BP" by Jack Rourk has gone live on Amazon for the Kindle! This is a story of a young girl who comes home from gathering food only to find her family and tribe killed. Knowing she has to leave, remembering stories of a shaman from a great tribe to the west, Elya sets out to find the tribe. This journey changed her life forever. I was totally fascinated by this story, and pleased with the extensive research that must have gone into the book. The story captures you, and gives you a look into a life that is difficult to imagine on your own.

Happy Dance!
So Happy!! It took almost a week, but I got a new router and now I have internet again!! I hadn't realized that I would feel this paralyzed by not having internet to my computer. Thank goodness for smart phones...at least I wasn't completely cut off!
Spending Christmas with the grandkids is totally exciting...spending it in sunshine and warm is almost as exciting! I'll be back to work after the first of January and I'm looking forward to that, too. :O)
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy New Year, and merry and happy to all I might have missed.

Reading for fun!
I am so addicted to reading! Even when I take a few days off I'm unable to stop reading. Having edited Cate Dean's "A Gathering of Angels" and "Carry on Wayward Son", books two and three of the "Claire Wiche Chronicles", I was enamoured with the story. Finding some free time, I pounced on the first of the series "Rest for the Wicked" and finished it this morning. Oh. My. Gosh. I loved it so much, and it reminded me of how much I loved the other two, now I'm going to spend the rest of my free time re-reading numbers two and three! Thanks so much, Cate, for being the fabulous writer you are...and, by the way, I want more. :O)

Hugh Howey
When I think of science fiction, I think of Jack Chalker, Andre Norton, Ann McCaffery, Issac Asimov, Mercedes Lackey to name a few. Huge fan of those authors, collected all their books. I am now a fan of Hugh Howey.
For someone who has been reading science fiction since the '70s, it has been a challenge to find someone (other than the above mentioned) who is able to pull me into a world thoroughly enough to actually read 6 of their books! In a row! In fact, I do believe that Hugh Howey is the first since then!
For those who project themselves into the world built by authors, the Wool series (or Silo series) is perfect. During the read (one right after another) I was living in the silo while reading and when I wasn't reading I was thinking of the dynamics of the characters, mechanics of living there, and impossibility of something like that actually working. To me, that is the sign of a great writer.
This author is a must read, I don't care what he writes, you must read it.

Chasing Shadows
I read S.H. Kolee's first in this series, "Seeing Shadows", and couldn't wait for the second one! I was lucky enough to edit the second of that series - "Chasing Shadows". What a fun read!
Totally didn't expect the ending! Now I'm going to be on the
edge of my seat until the next book comes out! The fact that I really don't
care for a lot of Simon's behavior simply means that S.H. Kolee got it right
with describing characters! When I have an opinion on the type of person a
character is that means I'm totally in the story. I was in there for the whole
edge-of-the-chair, couldn't-put-it-down story!

Busy Fall!
I can't believe how busy this fall has been! So busy, in fact, that I have three books to highlight!
There is one certain quality in a book written by an author who will be very successful…I find myself picturing the scenes as though I was watching a movie in my mind. “Saving Face” by J. E. Taylor is just such a book written by just such an author. This book has a killer opener, sets the stage, has enough background so you don’t feel you’ve totally missed the story by not reading the first of the set, and builds the action.
This book totally captured my attention! I am not going to say where this story goes, it’s too good a book to try to recap the action, you must read this yourself. There are many clues given during the entire story, some are red herrings that set your mind to thinking, ahhhh, I know what happened. Well, you don’t! Mystery story-telling at its best, I have to thank you, Mr. Conner, for providing a story that I can read more than one time. There are levels upon levels that reveal hidden clues, with an ending I didn’t see coming. The author hinted at issues, then let the reader move on, only to come back with a completely unexpected answer. This book was totally enjoyable. I highly recommend this book to anyone! You don’t have to love mystery writing to love this book.
"Hot Like Fire"
I thought this book was really sweet. The characters meet and fall in love. There are no large disagreements, nothing goes wrong. It's refreshing to read a book that is just romantic. I think the characters could have survived some trauma, Ms Roberts built them well enough to see the strength beneath the every day life, and who knows, maybe she will continue to follow them and throw some of life's disappointments at them. Even so, I like this book and would definitely recommend it for an enjoyable quick read.

I’ve edited a lot of books, read thousands more, and can
honestly say this is an author to look for. I recommend this book and any other
by J. E. Taylor for anyone who likes mystery, romance, and paranormal. It’s the
total package.

Just in time!
Just in time for Halloween! "Tales from the Mist" is an anthology you don't want to miss. This is the perfect group of short stories to read just before Halloween, they are all either spooky, creepy or scary! And, like some of the reviewers mentioned, I, too, glance over my shoulder a bit more often now, and make sure the light goes on before I go into a room, and the woods at night...nope, don't think so.

Getting ready to release the second in the Be Beautiful Forever series, "Carol", Ms. Muller is offering her first book, "Natalie" free on Amazon today and tomorrow! Undisclosed
I've been so busy that I haven't blogged in quite awhile! It's time to let you know about Jon Mills new novel, Undisclosed. I just happened to see that it is on Amazon now, and have to tell you that even if I hadn't edited it, I would still sing it's praises!
I completely enjoyed the story line and was actually in the book while I was reading it. I cared for the characters and was breathless in places where the action peaked. I will impatiently await the next in line.
This is a YA book that I would urge anyone to read. If you like paranormal, alien, mystery then this is a must read.

Beyond the Waters of the World
I'm so excited! Ruth Nestvold wrote Looking Through Lace, (now on sale for $.99) a book that I truly loved, and has now just published the second book about the world called 'Christmas' titled Beyond the Waters of the World. (only $1.99) If you enjoy other worlds, Ms. Nestvold is a master story teller and I urge you to get both of these books.

The Chamber
I finished The Chamber by Dominic H. King. Here is my final review. :O) The characters were well developed and I was able to get a
picture of them in my head. The idea of twin worlds where some things are
backward from each other is an interesting one. In my opinion that could have
been expanded more with more examples rather than just mentioning it. This is however a series so I imagine there will be more examples in the second book.
At the beginning, the book was fast paced and I read every word.
As pages went by, however, I found that I was glossing over parts and thought
about why I was doing that. I believe that, for me, there was just too much
description of surroundings and history that didn’t need to be there, and not
enough action for a while. The action did pick up again, and it had me holding my
breath at times.
I liked the way the chapters were separated into Kal’s and
Daine’s adventures, Mr. King made it easy to follow each one of them and never
left me wondering just how they got to the next scene.

Latest Read
I've been reading like crazy lately, to the point of neglecting housework (oh my!). Currently I'm about halfway through The Chamber by Dominic H. King. I'm liking the story, with reservations. I will wait until the end though to give my final review of it. So far it's good enough to keep me going, although I think it will need to have a really killer finale. I do like the concept of twin worlds. And I do like a series.
Since I don't do anything by halves, I've also started David Adam's The Sands of Karathi. Since I've only just started it, I will only say that it grabbed my interest with the prologue! Yep, it's good.

Back to Work - 'Looking Through Lace'
I'm excited to be back to work after my knee surgery!
While recuperating I had the pleasure of reading Ruth Nestvold's "Looking Through Lace". This book is science fiction at it's best. Ruth takes you to another world, creates a language that is reasonable though astonishing and gives the readers characters that one can relate to and come to know. I would say to anyone, sci fi reader or not, that this book is on the not-to-be-missed list. I have read science fiction for more years than I will admit to here, and have been looking for an author who will take it up a notch from the run of the mill. Ms. Nestvold definitely produces! Very well done.

Hospital Vacation
Just a quick note to thank all who have emailed me and looked at my blog site! I appreciate you looking, and welcome your comments.
As an FYI, I'm having knee surgery on Tuesday, the 17th, so I will not be working or answering emails between the 17th and the 20th. I do expect to be back at it by the 22nd or so. I will be able to add to my schedule, as long as your deadline for me is after August 3rd.
Thanks again! Keep writing!
Twin Souls by K.A. Poe
Over the weekend I read Twin Souls by K.A. Poe and must say that I really liked it.
Ms. Poe's characters were real enough to visualize, a must for those of us who are visual learners! Alexis could have been the girl next door, well, until she found out there really ARE vampires! All of the characters invading the pages of Twin Souls behaved in a believable fashion. Although a bit like some other stories where the heroine finds out she's special and then finds a soul mate, there were enough differences to make this story Ms. Poe's very own.
The only real criticism of the book is that the love between Salem and Alexis rang a bit false in that it occurred so instantly. On the other hand, Alexis is 18 yrs old, and that is what a lot of 18 yr old people do. By keeping that in mind I was able to believe a bit more in the soul mate part of the story.
What I found truly believable of the 18 yr. old girl was the dropping out of school, forgetting to check the fridge, and I'm wondering about the paying of bills!
I will be looking for more from Ms. Poe.........totally worth reading.

Love the Pet Psychic!
I just finished reading Karma's a Bitch (A Pet Psychic Mystery) by Shannon Esposito, and wanted it to go on and on! It was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Her characters are
memorable, the mystery and romance balanced just right, and she is able to
touch on a very sensitive subject, the homeless, in an honest yet delicate
manner.
I was left with a smile on my face, and in my heart, at the end of this story and as far as I'm concerned, that says it all.
I truly enjoyed her style and would recommend this book to anyone. I plan on reading more of her Pet Psychic Mystery series and urge others to do the same!

Review of The Saving Angels Series
I read all three of Tiffany King's series: "Meant to Be", "The Ascended", and "Forgotten Souls" in one intense reading spree! HIGHLY recommend this series.
"Meant to Be" I really did love it, however, there were a lot of mistakes in grammar and punctuation. I think the story line was terrific, I was able to get emotionally involved, but my eye automatically stops at the errors and that disrupts the flow. The character development, in my opinion, was very good, I felt that I got to know them all, even the cat, Feline! Tiffany writes in a way that puts the reader right into the situations that develop.
"Forgotten Souls" I must say that I enjoyed this story a great deal. Often a second book can be a bit slower than the first, in this case, I was involved with everyone, glad to see all of them again, and anxious to carry on. I was disappointed that the edits had not improved in "Forgotten Souls", but still loved the book and would recommend it to any reader.
"The Ascended" What a beautiful finale to the series! Tiffany tied up loose ends, added to character histories, and managed to create a unique view of the world for the reader to experience. I have to say that I'm SO glad I got all three books at once, waiting for any one of them would have been torture! Thanks, Tiffany, keep on writing!

Authors!
I am having a great time reading the Kindle Boards and seeing what some of the authors I have read and am reading are talking about. I have such respect for all authors, and being a read-aholic, I am as fasinated by their everyday thoughts as I am by their books. It's great to connect with other book fanatics, too. Interesting stuff!

Current Work
Megan Duncan is an Independent Author of YA books. Her stories are great fun to read, edge of the seat kind of action. I am currently working at editing the next in her Agents of Evil series, Chaos. Talk about fast paced! If you haven't already read Released (#1 in Agents of Evil series), I seriously recommend it!
