Undisclosed

I've been so busy that I haven't blogged in quite awhile! It's time to let you know about Jon Mills new novel, Undisclosed. I just happened to see that it is on Amazon now, and have to tell you that even if I hadn't edited it, I would still sing it's praises!

I completely enjoyed the story line and was actually in the book while I was reading it. I cared for the characters and was breathless in places where the action peaked. I will impatiently await the next in line.

This is a YA book that I would urge anyone to read. If you like paranormal, alien, mystery then this is a must read.

Beyond the Waters of the World

I'm so excited! Ruth Nestvold wrote Looking Through Lace, (now on sale for $.99) a book that I truly loved, and has now just published the second book about the world called 'Christmas' titled Beyond the Waters of the World. (only $1.99)   If you enjoy other worlds, Ms. Nestvold is a master story teller and I urge you to get both of these books.

The Chamber

I finished The Chamber by Dominic H. King. Here is my final review.  :O)  The characters were well developed and I was able to get a picture of them in my head.   The idea of twin worlds where some things are backward from each other is an interesting one. In my opinion that could have been expanded more with more examples rather than just mentioning it. This is however a series so I imagine there will be more examples in the second book.

At the beginning, the book was fast paced and I read every word. As pages went by, however, I found that I was glossing over parts and thought about why I was doing that. I believe that, for me, there was just too much description of surroundings and history that didn’t need to be there, and not enough action for a while. The action did pick up again, and it had me holding my breath at times.

I liked the way the chapters were separated into Kal’s and Daine’s adventures, Mr. King made it easy to follow each one of them and never left me wondering just how they got to the next scene.

I will definitely get the next in the series, and I recommend this to others who like elves, dwarves, magic and new worlds.  

Latest Read

I've been reading like crazy lately, to the point of neglecting housework (oh my!). Currently I'm about halfway through The Chamber by Dominic H. King. I'm liking the story, with reservations. I will wait until the end though to give my final review of it. So far it's good enough to keep me going, although I think it will need to have a really killer finale. I do like the concept of twin worlds. And I do like a series.

Since I don't do anything by halves, I've also started David Adam's The Sands of Karathi. Since I've only just started it, I will only say that it grabbed my interest with the prologue! Yep, it's good.

Back to Work - 'Looking Through Lace'

I'm excited to be back to work after my knee surgery!

While recuperating I had the pleasure of reading Ruth Nestvold's "Looking Through Lace". This book is science fiction at it's best. Ruth takes you to another world, creates a language that is reasonable though astonishing and gives the readers characters that one can relate to and come to know. I would say to anyone, sci fi reader or not, that this book is on the not-to-be-missed list. I have read science fiction for more years than I will admit to here, and have been looking for an author who will take it up a notch from the run of the mill. Ms. Nestvold definitely produces! Very well done.
